Dormitory Outreach: Serving Our Migrant Brothers
For the past five years, the SJSM Tamil Congregation has been dedicated to standing alongside the migrant workers who help build our nation. We believe in providing a “home away from home” for these men, offering them spiritual guidance, emotional support, and a welcoming community where they are deeply valued.
Reaching Out Across Singapore
Our outreach teams actively visit workers where they live and work to build relationships and offer support. Our regular visitation locations include:
- Old Choa Chu Kang
- Penjuru
- Westlite (Jurong East)
- North Coast Lodge (Woodlands)
- Tuas South
- Various construction sites around our local Dover neighborhood
Monthly Fellowship & Pastoral Care
Once a month, we invite our brothers to the SJSM church campus for an uplifting evening of fellowship. These highly anticipated gatherings are a safe space for rest and connection.
During these monthly meetups, we:
- Share the Word of God and provide encouraging biblical teaching.
- Serve a warm, hearty dinner for everyone to enjoy together.
- Celebrate the birthdays of the month with special gifts and recognition.
- Offer dedicated prayer for their personal well-being, their health, and the safety of their families back home.
- Provide a listening ear and crucial emotional support.
Celebrating Life Together
Community is about sharing joy. Beyond our monthly church gatherings, we make sure to celebrate major milestones and create fun, relaxing experiences for our brothers.
- Festive Celebrations: We host special events during major holidays, including Deepavali and Christmas, ensuring nobody feels alone during the festive seasons.
- Exciting Excursions: We organize group outings to iconic Singapore attractions, giving the workers a chance to unwind at places like Universal Studios, Sentosa, Wild Wild Wet, and the Singapore Cable Car.
- Sports & Recreation: We regularly host outdoor games and recreational activities, including cricket matches and snow bowling, to build camaraderie and simply have fun.
